Shekhar Bhagwat bought the first copy of Madhouse: True Stories of the Inmates of Hostel 4, a book on the misdeeds of the alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology – Bombay (IIT-B), for Rs 1 lakh on Sunday. Bhagwat is a former resident of hostel 4 from the 1985 batch. The book covers IIT-B’s student history through 1975 to 1985 with 187 anecdotes.
Harsha Bhogle, cricket commentator, who read the book said: “I thought it was fiction. But this is all real.”
The Hostel Alumni Team Stewardship Programme was started. The distinguished service awards were given to Hemant Patel (Class of 1979) and to Pratim Biswas (Class of 1980) for funding several programmes.
